Big Feet!

Title says it all. I’m pretty happy with how this scales, not too big, not too small (sorry no comparison pics). I’m so keen to get going with a squad of these that I’m leaving this guy as he is.

Hey guys.
Small update for you all on the Mark 4 from the Alpha Legion squad. The greenstuff is largely done on the torso, just need to do another plate to go in front of the groin, but need to wait the GS underneath to firm up. The trickiest thing about this (other than the sculpting) was getting the chest to stick out far enough. I had to hack the Forgeworld torso down the middle without damaging any of the details, rather tricky but all done with a scalpel rather than sawblade.

The rest of the squad is a little begin the progress of this mini, the Mk3 helms having taken time to get right. Will have a squad update very soon, but just wanted to show the progress of my first Mk4 armour. Have to have some of these in my own collection, no doubt.
I finally got some work done on the squad of Alpha Legionnaires I had promised I would do weeks ago. This is the second time I have started this squad (part of the reason for the wait). I had tried to pose some of the squad in a striding pose, but many of the legs just ended up looking like they belonged to ballerinas, skipping… you get the idea. I ended up swapping most of them out for a more standard marine pose, with some minor adjustments. Striding/running poses are very difficult to do without them looking weird, and with a variety of only 5 pairs of Terminator legs to use, it only makes thing tougher.
In the near future I will start removing the thighs completely and sculpting them from scratch.
The squad here will consist of 3 x Mk4, and 5 x Mk3. I’ve begun sculpting the Mk3 helmets to match the helm used by the Space Marine Master with helm in hand. I think I may try an alternative style based on some of the earlier models/drawings of Mk3 armour, just to see how they look.
The Mk4 bits are from forgeworld, and I think they are brilliant, my favourite style of power armour by far. Still a long way to go with this squad, I’ve already begun working of their weapons, a collection of power weapons and combi-bolters (client will use these as GK Terminators). I’m going away for a few days but when I get back I’ll be giving these my full attention, so hopefully most of the work will be done by this time next week.
Made a little progress the last few days with a test model for Actual Scale Terminators. Please keep in mind that this is just a test mini, so it’s rough and quickly put together just to help me figure out methods, scales and proportions. It’s obviously unfinished also (duh!), requiring bigger boots, enlarged arms and enlarged pads. I tried attaching the regular Terminator arms and pads and they certainly won’t do, especially as all the power armour models use those bits. The pads are pretty straightforward, but I’m unsure how I’ll proceed with the arms yet.
At the moment I think the torso is too wide but I’ll wait till I have more of him assembled before making any adjustments.

As of today I will not be taking any new commissions until at least december.
Anyone who has placed an order so far will still be getting the work done as arranged (although a bit late).
The sheer volume of interest has been overwhelming, and I am very thankful for this. I must apologise to all those waiting for conversions, but I’ll get there in the end. Thank you for your patience.
Once all the existing commissions are completed and I’ve had chance to tackle a project for myself, I’ll be open to taking orders again. For anyone thinking of placing an order, please send me an email with your name. I’ll place you on a waiting list and get back to you in December to see if you’re still interested.
The conversion of Ciaphas Cain is complete as per the clients requirements. I’m very pleased with this conversion (want to keep him for myself actually), and the level of detail required was something that challenged my developing sculpting skills. I’m especially happy with the boots with the eagle icons on them. I really keen to buy some DKoK for myself, grenadiers perhaps.
This will be painted over the next week also, so more pics to come when he’s finished.

Well I finally have some finished work to show.
First up is the Blood Raven HQ who will count as Vulkan He’stan. Overall he’s come together really well in the end. I had to resculpt the cloak again to get it right, and the addition of power cabling, studs and accessories has really helped complete the model. I’ve left the pads and belt buckle plain, to allow for painted iconography of the client’s choice (personal heraldry I would assume, because he’s at least a Captain in rank).

Hi guys, not done much the last week due to spending a few days in London on a charitable endeavour. What I have managed is as you can see, some progress on the Blood Raven character, as well as a bit of work on a Alpha Legionaires Squad and some preliminary work on an Actual Scale Terminator (yes they’re on their way).
As this Blood Raven is based on Vulkan He’stan I converted a fist mounted weapon, but have since removed it to be done again, as I didn’t feel it was good enough. The cloak originally came from a Chaos Terminator Lord with lots of filling in to make it less raggedy. I really like the way Vulkan’s cloak drapes over his shoulders and so replicated it here. The raven is just a fantasy bit I picked up from bitzbox.co.uk on a whim a few months ago. The backpack has been converted from bits from a couple of thunder hammers.
Originally I had planned to have the entire backside of the cloak made from bird feathers, but due to the thickness of the cloak already I’m looking at an alternative way of incorporating feathers into the finished model.
Hope to have him finished tonight. Still to do, add pouches/rivets/holster/icons here and there, finish fist weapon, and add a bionic eye to the raven.
This is the beginning of a Blood Raven HQ that is meant to count as Vulkan He’stan. The brief for the project was to retain the wargear and pose of my previous Vulkan conversion (only in regular scale), and to make the details Blood Raven specific. I originally built the model with a normal Mark VIII chest, but changed it by replacing the back of the collar. The part came from the AoBR Captain, and with a bit of greenstuff fits perfectly.

Still to come, added iconography, a sweeping cloak with raven feathers, stylised weapons. Still not entirely sure how I’m going to replicate the gauntlet weapon.
The Ciaphas Cain conversion is closer to completion. Just a few more details to add.
