Nearly finished Blood Raven Character

August 8th, 2009

Hi guys, not done much the last week due to spending a few days in London on a charitable endeavour. What I have managed is as you can see, some progress on the Blood Raven character, as well as a bit of work on a Alpha Legionaires Squad and some preliminary work on an Actual Scale Terminator (yes they’re on their way).

As this Blood Raven is based on Vulkan He’stan I converted a fist mounted weapon, but have since removed it to be done again, as I didn’t feel it was good enough. The cloak originally came from a Chaos Terminator Lord with lots of filling in to make it less raggedy. I really like the way Vulkan’s cloak drapes over his shoulders and so replicated it here. The raven is just a fantasy bit I picked up from bitzbox.co.uk on a whim a few months ago. The backpack has been converted from bits from a couple of thunder hammers.

Originally I had planned to have the entire backside of the cloak made from bird feathers, but due to the thickness of the cloak already I’m looking at an alternative way of incorporating feathers into the finished model.

Hope to have him finished tonight. Still to do, add pouches/rivets/holster/icons here and there, finish fist weapon, and add a bionic eye to the raven.

  • They're from the Space Marine Command Squad box set I believe. I think they're the company champions shoulder pads.

Strange question, but I can't quite figure ouyt the shoulder pads - It looks like terminator pads, mounted on top of each other, but the overlaid pad looks like it's been cut off at an angle.

    Can you shed some light?

Absolutely love this model! Possibly more than your 2-handed TH assault marine. Only one extremely small criticsim. I don't like the angle of the thumb on the powerfist. A thumb will oppose the digits and therefore needs to be angled more forward. Really sorry, not sure why I say these things 'cus I could never achieve such feats. Love the model though!!
