About

Hello.

My name’s Simon and this is my Project Blog. Although I’ve dabbled with other games systems the focus of this website will be on Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000. Since the early days of “Rogue Trader” I have been a massive fan of Warhammer 40,000 and the iconic Space Marines in particular. Because of this, I’ll primarily be focusing on conversions of the Space Marine range, but I’m sure other ranges will pop up from time to time.

I have a particular fascination with art of “Actual Scale” conversions, whereby models are scaled up so they are the appropriate size when compared to other models in the range (according to the fiction). For example, if a Space Marine is meant to stand 7-8 feet tall, his miniature should stand head and shoulders over an Imperial Guardsman.

I’ve been involved in the sci-fi & fantasy wargaming hobby for 20 years. In that time I’ve worked in independent hobby stores and had the good fortune to work at the Games Workshop Headquarters in Nottingham for a couple of glorious years (though ironically not as a modelmaker/sculptor). I also have a HND (Higher National Diploma) in Figurative Sculpture. Although all the work I did at the time was at lifesize I still believe it has contributed a great deal to my ability as a Miniature modelmaker/converter.

On fan forums and on this blog I exclusively use the username Lamenter.
