What’s on the horizon?

What’s on the horizon?

Greetings all. So I know updates lately have been even sparser than usual. Unfortunately that’s not going to change any time soon. It’s time for me to move away from what I’ve focused this blog on for so long (those ever popular Space Marines) and start to work on my own ideas. I know many of you 40K and truescale fans won’t like that but so long as the work is based on someone else’s ideas and intellectual properties I will be tied to this being a hobby, and I want to make it MY job based on MY ideas. Right now...

Sneak Peek: Small Scale Wings

Sneak Peek: Small Scale Wings

Just wanted to share a quick sneak peek of a piece I’m working on for Anvil Industry. This is the two wings of a jet pack like device (as far as I know). What you see here will be split down the middle. The reverse side will be have identical details. Because I needed to make them as thin and delicate as possible I decided to sculpt in relief form onto a thin piece of plasticard onto which I’d drawn the chosen design. I built up what you see here literally one feather at a time. Although time consuming doing it one at a time it...

Resin Wings For Sale

Finally managed to attach the first pair of cast wings to mu Doombull conversion (two pins in each to be sure). Now that I’ve finished all the sculpting on this model, I’ll begin painting this long overdue project. Still a little uncertain how I’ll be painting it (colour choices), but I’ll probably opt for something in natural tones rather than the often used blues, yellows and reds of Tzeentch aligned creatures. I really liked the Warhammer Online game’s interpretation of Tzeentch aesthetics so I’ll...

Resin Wings in Production

Resin Wings in Production

Just a quick update on the casting of the feathered wings I made for my Doombull Champion. Here we have a photo direct from the caster (Battlecast service at Anvil Industry) of the first production casts. Even though the master was very difficult to mold and cast the quality looks to be top notch. If anyone is interested in purchasing a pair of these wings I’ll be pricing them at £11.99 and £1.99 for shipping and I’ll be putting them up in the site’s Store. I’ve placed an order for a small number of casts in the...

Sorry, updates on the way.

Sorry, updates on the way.

First up I have to apologize for the lack of content recently. The last few weeks especially have been manic to say the least and I genuinely couldn’t set aside any proper hobby time. I know some of you are waiting on projects and many more just want to see some new content and tutorials, but it’s been impossible recently. The craziness has settled down a bit so I’m hoping to get back on track this week (fingers crossed). I’ve managed to tinker now and again with ongoing work but don’t have much of anything to...

MotF Online Store

Well it’s only taken a couple of years but I finally have automated payments set up for the Master of the Forge Webstore. To kick it off I have my first batch of Mechanical Talons. The stock is low at the moment but I’ll be restocking them very soon. I’ve also added Blu-Stuff to this store for anyone interested in saving on shipping. I’ve set the shipping cost for all orders at just £1.99, something I did on Blu-Stuff.com. This means I have to cover the extra cost of all shipping outside the UK myself, but I prefer to...

Charity Auction

Hi all. So I have this Artscale Deathwatch mini (Imperial Fist) that I made for commission a couple of months ago and unfortunately the client hasn’t got back to me. Rather than just try and find a buyer, I’m going to auction it off and give the money to a local RSPCA Animal Rescue Centre who are running an appeal at the moment. First thing to decide is how to paint it up as I’m sure it’ll raise a higher final price if it’s painted. It was commissioned as a member of the Deathwatch, but I can easily paint it up...

Mechanical Talons Update

Hey all. For those who are waiting for their Mechanical Talons, there’s been a slight delay on delivery. I’m expecting them Tuesday/Wednesday. I will issue invoices via Paypal on Monday so I shopuld be able to send them all out as quickly as possible. For anyone interested in picking some of these up I only have 25 pairs available that haven’t been reserved. Send me an email if you want to reserve them (first come first serve). I might get some more casts of these particular talons made but I don’t see myself stocking...

Look what came in the post!

I just wanted to share this little gem that I got in the post this morning. I ordered a Goldar the Barbarian from Reaper after seeing it on a Beast of War ‘On the Table‘ episode. Whenever I roleplay or play games like HeroQuest (yes I still play HeroQuest) or play MMORPGs I almost always play the barbarian or warrior. However, in my mind there are very few really great muscle bound Barbarian models out there, so when I saw this I jumped at the chance to get one. Although I think the model is great as it is I did buy it with the...

Mechanical Talons

Hey all, So I know I’ve been a bit lax of late (nothing new there right?). I redesigned the site and then did hardly anything with it for weeks, not a great start. My original idea was to turn the site into a directory of modelling and painting articles scattered across the internet, trying to make it easier for hobbyists to find relevant content to them. It didn’t take me long to realise how difficult this was going to be, and that the reason people visited this site was to see the work I produce. So I’m going to keep doing...
