The Tyrant of Badab

Here’s the big man himself.

I forgot to take size comparison photos again, but you can kinda see how big he is just based on the fact he’s on a 40mm base. The cloak looks a lot worse than it does in the flesh. I’m fairly pleased with how the Hamadrya turned out, a little larger than I wanted but the positioning and pose are spot on how I wanted him. The plastic torso on the Hamadrya came from a Warhammer Zombie for those who are wondering.

Overall I’m most pleased with Huron’s Power Fist. I’ll definitely be attempting to better it in future, but it’s a nice start.

EDIT: Here’s the scale comparison with good old Lamenter Bob.

Huron Blackheart nearing battle readiness.

So here he is, very near completion. I have a sculpted cloak to attack to his backpack (somehow) and a Hamadrya yet to sculpt but otherwise Huron is pretty much finished. I left off the feline skin trophy he has draped over his shoulder in the illustrations, because I think it’ll interfere too much with the model as it is and likely won’t look very good on the finished model. There are some minor differences between the model and the artwork but it’s a fairly close finish.

Taking a look at the model shown in the Bell of Lost Souls Badab War supplement, there’s a striking similarity to this model. This is entirely coincidental, but a coincidence I find rather pleasing none the less. I’ve yet to see how well I can sculpt the Hamadrya familiar. If it’s not up to scratch I will leave it off in favour of GW’s own model.

I think I can honestly say this is one of my better conversions so far, but there are certainly elements I know I can improve upon.

Huron Blackheart – half finished

Still need to add a lot more detail, add a thumb to the power fist (which I’m very pleased with, I have to say), add a lion pelt over the shoulder, finish the legs and of course scrath build a Hamadrya.

I’m not sure about the hair (my first attempt a hair). I may try that again.

Huron Blackheart

Hey guys, well it’s been more than a couple of weeks, but I’ve managed to finally drag myself away from other distractions. Here’s the first pic of Huron Blackheart commission. It is based off of the artwork featured in the BoLS Badab War supplement, the directions from the client was to have him striding forward. This is the second attempt at this model, the first I was so unsatisfied with I did a complete restart. I’ve also taken this apart twice to get the striding pose right, but I’m pretty pleased with the pose now. Most of the upper body is currently tacked together. The basic shape is there now, just need to work on the detailing. I wanted to scratch build a highly detailed power fist at some point, and this will be a great place to try.
