Today I put the final touches to 2 more Red Scorpions Captains. Not a great deal to say regarding the paintjob, but I have to say the one on foot has really grown on me since I started painting it. I’m not a great fan of the stock (brick shaped) bikes, so this conversion is an improvement in my eyes. It’s late… and I can’t think right now of anything else I need to say about these two. I’ll edit if anything comes to mind tomorrow.

Finally managed to put some finishing touches to the Red Scorpions I’ve been painting recently. Would have had these done a week or so ago but stressful times of late (plus a new dog to look after) have made life a bit difficult. I’ll be finishing the final two Red Scorpions this week.

The above model isn’t one of mine, just one I agreed to paint. He has a magnetized backpack/jump pack and was created by this guy. The intention with the power sword was to have it look like it was fashioned from a large tyranid bone sword or claw. It looks better in the flesh, unfortunately I’m having trouble taking decent photos right now (need to sort out some lighting).
This model you’ve seen before, unfortunately he needed a slight repaint as the client wanted a black and red scheme rather than grey and red. I also defined his digital weapons a little better.
I haven’t added battle damage to the lightning claw captain because I felt that if added to the camo scheme it would look too busy. If the client wants battle damage adding to the Culln model then I’ll do just that.
I hope to start on some component casting real soon, but I have a lot on my plate right now so if you’re interested in purchasing some, please be patient. Cheers.

Here we have the second finished Captain for the Red Scorpions (three more to come). The client requested the camo scheme used during the Badab War for this mini. The red jagged design didn’t stand out too well on the grey of the regular armour colour so I added a fine white line to separate the two. It took a while to figure out the colours and their balance but the final piece is rather pleasing to the eye, if I do say so myself.
Just a quick post to show a work in progress Red Scorpion captain (3 of 4). He has a combi- bolter/flamer, powerfist (with grenade launcher). I’ve yet to add an Iron Halo and Digi lasers to his powerfist. I think I’ll also be sculpting something scorpion-y onto his back banner.

A little extra tidbit is this Actual Scale chest eagle I sculpted for someone, based off the one I did for the Grey Knight Chaplain. This is actually the second attempt. I don’t think it’s as good as the first but it’s satisfactory. I’ll be making molds of this to cast chest eagles for some of my future Blood Angels. The torso I sculpted as a base here is actually larger than the torsos I’ve used on most of my Marines to date, but I think I’m going to be moving toward larger chest plates in future. This is also big enough a chest eagle to fit a scaled up Terminator. Note: the gap between the wings is to allow a different things to be added, like a blood drop or skull or whatever, and adds to the amount of possible variety.

Just a quick update on the second Red Scorpion captain I’ve been working on. I’m not certain about the scorpion sculpted onto the jump pack, maybe it’ll look better painted up. I have two more captains in progress which should be ready for pics pretty soon.

Effectively finished awaiting varnish (raining outside, so it’ll have to be tomorrow). I believe the client wants a more heavily battle damaged figure, but as I always apply battle damage last, I figured I’d show him as he is and get some feedback from the client at the same time.

Hi all,
For those of you waiting for an update on the Alpha Legionnaires, it’s coming tomorrow. The whole squad should be finished by the end of the week. The biggest stumbling block has been the Mk3 torsos, but a lot of the other details are underway now.
In the meantime I have an update on another project, namely a Red Scorpions character. The client has commissioned four Red Scorpions Captains each equipped differently. This is the first, equipped with terminator armour, thunder hammer and storm shield. The pics are pretty self explanatory. The thunder hammer arm is magnetized at the shoulder joint, allowing rotation and removal for easy transporting. The shield will be a conversion of Lysander’s without the Imperial Fist iconography. The finished conversion will also be painted (hopefully by the end of the week, along with Ciaphas Cain for a separate client).

The head on this model came from the AoBR captain, a great mini I just have to keep hacking up, as is the loin cloth. The bit on the base is a dead Tyranid Ripper from the Chaplain Cassius model and the head of the thunder hammer came from an Iron Hands model. Although the hammer head is smaller than a regular plastic one, I find it looks a nicer scale and will be unique amongst other thunder hammer wielding terminators.
This model still has some details to be added, and the client has request acid splash battle damage (veteran Nid basher!), something I need to be really careful about to make sure I get it right and don’t ruin the model.
